I thought that the steak would get stewed as it was cooked for a while in the sauce, however it did not and retained its steak characteristics.

The beef in onion sauce was great. The ajvar reminded me of baba ghanoush – it was supposed to be an appetizer, perhaps a dip? But it went nicely over the vegetables.
Comments
We had left over corn dumplings which we kept overnight in a round cup like container. It was then sliced and heated under the grill. They were probably not in the least bit Croatian, but we didn’t want to waste it! I guess potatoes would have been more appropriate.
There is also plenty of roast lamb (from Saturday) and poached chicken (from making stock) so you know what we’ll be having for lunch this week.
